Wheres the scene going?

We had a recent post on classic retro cars which made me ask the question, what direction is the scene going now? There doesn’t seem to be any trends coming through from films like Fast & Furious anymore which is sending the whole thing underground.
Mainstream mags don’t seem to have anything to latch onto, with one recent modified mag running a supplement which hit rock bottom in content, style and substance by abusing anyone with a modified car. What’s that all about?
If they think the euro tuner cars were bad, they should have a look at what they are actually trying to achieve publishing such crap. Sure, they’ll say that it was tongue in cheek, but the facts remain they have nothing to say. There’s nothing going on at ‘thier’ level.
Dig a bit deeper though and you find a vibrant group of people in niche scenes who are producing awesome cars. It’s great to see the diversity of interests and what enthusiasts are looking to acheive.
Everyone’s different, and if it ended in a car culture that was purely one marque it’d be a boring world. The best banter always comes from an Alfa driver defending the breakdowns, or the VW’er saying all cars should be smoothed and de-seamed and understated.
So where’s it going, and what products and inflences are going to make diffence? Answers on a blogcard please? As for a guaranteed rocking article, that was a blatant lie, but it’s going to get better and better the more we discuss, inspire and dream about the next mod, so let me know your ideas.

the scene is going round and round in circles, the new trend should be trying to modify car’s that are hard to modify, and arn’t modified. Make slow car’s fast, and make ugly car’s beautiful. Its the way forward, get a twingo, picanto, Xsara Picasso, Fox and make it work……

The scene is going in all different directions. The drift scene is massive and becoming bigger all the time, last year drifting was hardly talked about, now its bigger than ever and growing. Alot of people are taking to the style with there cars, dished crazy wide wheels which are as flush as possible, “make the car fit the wheels” as id say.
The Euro trend is influencing a lot of peoples rides at the moment too. Low, simple with crazy VIP wheels.
Modified cars are about sleek, smooth and stylish nowadays.
The Jap scene is still massive and is at its best right now i would say, i love the style the US have, simple but effective.
Its definitly going in the right direction in my opinion.
Ive chatted aload of crap, but yeah!

Alfa’s aren’t that unreliable, anyway it gives them character….
I think the future of modding is in track biased mods like coilovers, uprated brakes, roll cages etc… more and more people are going on trackdays as it’s the only place you can really push a car to it’s limits safely and legally.
Either that or slammed and deep dish wheels
