The last meet of the year for myself was last weekend.. It had to be the huge South Mimms meet paying homage to all models of Honda. After spending a thorough 6 hours polishing the car panel by panel on Saturday afternoon and a further “quick” clean down on Sunday we were all ready to leave.

Having rushed last week to have the new wheels fitted for this meet, everything came together very nicely and it was awesome receiving compliments from people saying how well the new Bronze Grids suited the car. After a very boring drive up the M1′s awful 50MPH limit and losing most of the convoy from time to time we finally made it. The temperature was reaching near 30C, no clouds in the sky and some of the UK’s best Honda’s. Perfect day out!

This picture really doesn’t do the size of the meet justice, it was huge.

Is it just me or are Image wheels creeping onto the scene more and more?

Super clean coupe, it’s nice to see cars done simply with well thought out parts.

Endless Horizon was as always in attendance, the quality of this EK was second to none.

’96 Spec DC2 looks awesome.

Clean EK – Regamasters, Spoon spoiler and a few other choice mods.

Really liked this 5 door EP. I barely see any that have anything done to them and this stood out to me.

Less S2000′s were in attendance this year, this one was very clean.

All in all, this was the perfect way for me to end the show season of 2011, I’m just wondering what next year will bring and what levels of perfection people will roll out of their garages after winter. Bring on 2012!

After missing the all important season ending JAE due to other commitments, this was my last chance of the year to catch up on 2011′s best Japanese metal. Luckily the weather managed to hold off and the racing was not stopped once throughout the entire day and the only time the heavens opened up was on the journey home. There was plenty to see from the HKS Drag Series, drift paddock to monster truck shows, RWYB & Show’n'Shine!

The pro cars were definitely not one to be missed, with the final trap at the end of the day being 6.6s @ 208MPH from the Abbey Motorsport Project Z car and not to mention a few good ear bashing runs from the Fireforce Jet Car!

The show area was buzzing with various models of Japanese cars, both old and new!

Overall, the show was awesome and definitely a great way to end the season especially with the typical UK weather keeping away until going home! Anyway, enough of the talking! More pictures below!

Sure, Remus isn’t the first choice out the blocks, but hang on a minute… You’ve not considered Europe’s No1 performance exhaust brand for over 20 years? Are you NUTS?

You can follow the Milltek crowd or consider the fresh new Remus Focus systems for RS. A TRULY a unique system. Here’s why.

The Remus Sound - The unique sound is thanks to Remus passion to provide the best exhaust systems available ensuring that your Focus has a sound like no other. To do this they have created their state of the art sound room. where each car is placed and the exhaust note tuned to meet their exacting standards in sound. Heres a taste of how the new Mk II Focus RS system will sound Click here to listen.

The Remus Build – Engineered in Austria from T304 stainless steel with a full lifetime warranty & TUV approval on most systems. This is standard stuff though right? What’s new? Well Remus are the chosen supplier to AC Schitzer, Brabus, AMG and Irmscher. All high end respected brands and all have chosen Remus to supply their performance exhausts.

A recent specialist in Porsche quoted us “excellent fitment compared to the others”. This is really sums up what Remus is all about; details you maybe wouldn’t of considered. If a garage has to spend an extra couple of hours messing around on fitment you’ll end up spending more in the long run.

The Remus Design- The Remus tips are a slightly different option but a nice design. A definate improvement over standard. What about design for power? Well BHP gains are still being confirmed by Austria, but initial feedback is fantastic in comparison to other manufucaturers. Watch this space.

The Remus Price - We were so excited about this system we released this without knowing the expected RRP, but we have been told it’s going to be competitive against other top end options. Watch this space x 2.

Please drop us an email at sales@potn.com if you are interested in this or any other Remus exhaust.

Wayne Keeber reports on the BDC Round 2 at Silverstone…

A return to Silverstone for round 2 but this time using the Brooklands and Luffield corners of the main track. This round of the championship was run in conjunction with the Japanese Tuning Show.

I managed to get a practice day in before round 2 and I used this to bed in yet another clutch combination and get some seat time to get use to the car. Nothing broke on the car and it only needed a couple of little jobs doing before going to Silverstone, with the event on Sunday this gave me the Saturday to sort the bits out and make sure it was ready for 100mph entries! With everything loaded and ready to go by 11pm on Saturday night, this was 5 hours faster than round 1 preparations.

It was an early start on Sunday morning, making sure everything was loaded and ready we then set off to get to Silverstone for 07:30am for scrutineering. With some changes made (from suggestions by scrutineers in round 1) the car passed with flying colours and we were ready for practice. Before practice was the drivers briefing in which we are told what we can and can’t do, what the judges want to see and, where and how many points we can score.

Practice consisted of two 30 minute sessions, the first was spent learning the track and how the car works on it. Finding the limits I had a couple of spins and shredded the tyres after about 4 runs, and with the sessions being only 30 minutes, by the time the wheels were changed the session was over. 30 minutes before my second session and in that time I did some checks on the car and found the gearbox to be leaking oil in to the car. The oil leak was minor so I lined up for session 2. Once again I had done a set of tyres after only 4 or 5 runs which meant I had to go back in to the pits for a change which ended the same as the first session, again.

With the top 16 qualifiers going through the names were read out and I had qualified 11th, better than I was expecting as my runs didn’t feel as nice as my practice runs. Anyway, this meant I was out again this time twinning with the other drivers that made the top 16. We made our way on to the track for the top 16 battles and as we were lining up awaiting our battles (me against Steve ‘Stiggy’ Evans in a Toyota Starlet), his car failed with a snapped clutch cable. This was very unfortunate as this would have been a battle with the biggest car against the smallest. With the failure of Stiggy’s car it meant I was automatically promoted to the top 8.

With the top 16 battles over there was a short break while the running order for the top 8 was decided, I was drawn against Danny Eyles in a Japspeed S15 and he was on fire all day. We lined up for our practice run with me leading as I had qualified higher. During the practice run I was able to judge where he was stronger than me so I adjusted my line for the first scored run so he could sneak up the inside like on the practice run. The score was 6-4 to Danny. The second run with Danny leading didn’t go so well for me as I made a mistake shifting to 2nd and gave Danny a nice lead. I tried as hard as I could to close the gap but it was to big and again the score was 6-4 in his favour. I knew it would be difficult to beat Danny as he was on form all day, he eventually went on to win the whole event.

All in all it was a fantastic day, the track was awesome, the quality of driving was brilliant and apart from the small oil leak on the gearbox nothing on the car broke. I finished 8th out of 40 that stared the day.

The next round of the BDC both Pro and Semi-Pro is at Lydden Hill on 19th June.

Brakes, we all have them in some form on cars and bikes. Question is are you getting the best out of them?

Upgrading your pads and discs is the obvious step but there’s more to brakes than just pads and discs.

Braided hoses significantly improve the feel and response of your brakes. Mainly because the vast majority of brake hoses are made of a flexible silicone which expands under pressure unlike braided steel hoses made by Goodridge which remain stiff at all times. Also the Goodridge hoses carry a lifetime warranty which means you only need to change them once and then enjoys the benefits of upgraded hoses.

If you do change the hoses then you will more than likely need to change your brake fluid. Usually you would drain it first otherwise you’ll get very messy. There’s a choice here, you can simply replace the fluid for the same grade you have now or upgrade it to something like EBC Brakes BF-307 Brake Fluid this has a higher boiling point than standard fluid so if you tend to be a bit heavy on the brakes or if you feel you brakes fading over extended use this will be ideal for you as it can take more heat than normal fluid before fading.

Check dates? 28th-30th May.
Check distance? Peterborough UK.
Check pocket? £12.50 day / £34 weekend+camping. Under 14 free.
Check car? Wash and polish with tunes ready.

Modified Nationals is fast becoming the grand daddy of the show scene for all modified car enthusiasts to get together and check what’s going on in all the different scenes. It’s relaxed, well attended and the organisers have gone all out to give you a show in every sense. This year will host over 140 car clubs, with over 1500 club cars. Total attendance is probably 10 times this figure at a guess.

Modified Nationals has a healthy number of exhibitors, indoor arena for the eye candy, guest DJs and MCs including Ironik who always put a great show on. I was fortunate to be at last years Sidewinder RAW who rammed the smaller room, so they are going mainstage. I guarantee you will going insane and bouncing around like an idiot. A great night.

Worthy of a mention would be the hot girls that attend including the MaxPower Babes, various competitions, 10 car virtual raceroom by kw suspension and of course the cars.

We will be there with an internet cafe so you can check your email, facebook and forums. You can also use us as a mobile phone recharging point too so bring your 3 point adaptors to save your batteries. You can come to the show for a day or stay for the whole weekend.

You can save money by getting pre-purchase tickets here for the show. Closing date for pre booking is 24th May. They have great prices on the weekend VIP passes. Main site here
