The Rota GT3 is a true classic and has always been loved for its innovitive range of colours available (including the awesome red with polished lip), but now we can unveil a couple of awesome new colour schemes….

The question you should be asking is “which intake is best type of intake for me?“.

Each type of filter, be it panel filter or induction kit has very different characteristics and it is important you decide what you need. What are you looking for from the upgrade? More power, an awesome sound, better economy, ultimate power, lowest maintenance.

The Basics

There’s two basic principles of any replacement filter:

• That it will allow more air to get the engine.
  The more air you can get into the engine the better, it will give you more power.


• That the air it gets to the engine is as cold as possible.
  The colder the air, the denser the air, the more oxygen it contains

Remember:
More Air or Colder Air = More Oxygen = More Power = Better MPG

Which Type of Filter?

1. Replacement Panel or Element filters

This item simply replaces your standard filter, with a filter made from a better material, allowing more air to pass through.

Pros
Dead easy to change
You will get better mpg and power

Cons
Power gains could be better, particularly on smaller engine cars.

2. Induction Kits

With a basic induction kit, the standard air box is removed from the car and the induction kit is put in its place. With more surface area available, the new, less restrictive filter will allow more air to pass through. Now the filter is free from the restrictive air box you also find that you can hear the filter roaring when the engine is revved hard.

Pros
Better mpg and power improvements over panel filters
Great induction roar noise at higher revs

Cons
Harder to fit than a panel filter

3. Enclosed / Rerouted Induction Kits

By either rerouting the induction kit, or enclosing the induction kit within a heat shield the quality of the air supplied to the filter can be further improved. By making sure the filter only receives the coldest, fastest moving air even more power can be gained.

Best power gains of all types
Cons
Hardest of the bunch to fit, and most expensive

Normally you’d replace your plugs annually with a standard spark plug, but it’s worth considering the benefits a premium spark plug will give you.

Premium spark plugs produce a brighter, more consistent spark and will make sure your getting the most from your engine. With fuel prices going through the roof, it’s worth fitting a part that will improve the power and efficiency of your engine. Premium spark plugs are known to have an improving effect on your petrol consumption.

Import cars are going to see the biggest benefit, as premium plugs can help reduce the impact of fuel differences between Japan and the UK.

Sure-fire signs your plugs are not working properly are:

• Getting less mpg out of your car


• An erratic idle


• Not starting easily (think we’ve all had this on a cold morning)


• Poor acceleration (will get worse over time)


• Stalling for no good reason

If you have any of these symptoms it might just be time to check and change your plugs.

I love alloy wheels, they are normally the difference between an ok car and an awesome car.

RONAL TEDDY BEARS Teddylicous retro Ronal wheels. Just plain bizzare. Ronal must have been on crack when they came up with these nut job wheels. No longer available from anywhere but ebay on very rare occasions. I am just struggling to guess how this design got past the MD at Ronal! Destined to become a collectors item among VW enthusiasts looking for a rat look.

DUB PIMPSTARS Ooh the pretty lights. At around $25,000 for a set of 24 inchers, these wheels featuring special LED lights that let you put any picture you like on them. The image is even changeable on the move from a laptop. Has to be seen to be believed, check out the video on YouTube

ASANTI MILLION DOLLAR WHEELS You’d have to be some kind of nutter to spend $1,000,000 on a set of wheels wouldn’t you? The fact they come with a free Bentley and a years free bodyguard service has got to help, but that only accounts for a measly $178,000 of the asking price, leaving the wheels at a mighty $800,000 or so. I can’t think of a more stupid way to spend a lottery win than this. Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks it’s a stupid idea. As to date nobody has brought a set!
